Consumers riled by defunct biometric machines at Ration shops in Kothagudem
Kothagudem: The grand establishment of biometric system in Ration shops turns futile as ration card beneficiaries are facing problem due to not functioning of biometric machines. The biometric system is being implemented from January 1st. All the ration shops dealers have been implemented boimetric system in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.
Bhadradri-Kothagudem district has total 2,75,557 food security cards including 2,57,996 food security cards, 17,577 Anthyodaya cards and four Anna Purna cards. As many as 50,58,923 kg rice had distributed in 442 shops in various places in the district. The government is implementing this new system to strengthen the public distributions.
For this purpose, the District Civil Supply Department had trained dealers and given the biometric machines to them. But it became troublemaker to the beneficiaries in the Ration Shops. The Biometric machines are not working properly, it is struck when the beneficiary giving thumb impression.
A beneficiary R Rama Laxmi speaking to The Hans India said that it is festival time we need ration, but we are not getting ration because of not functioning of biometric machines. Every day I am coming back without ration, she added. A dealer of the Ration shop said that due to the poor signal machine is not working.
