Minister Jagadish Reddy sets deadline for Sri Ram Sager project works
Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy stated that officials concerned would be held responsible if roads in the villages were damaged during the laying of pipelines under Mission Bhagiratha. It is mandatory to take permission of Panchayat Raj and Roads and Buildings department while carrying out pipeline works, he added.
The Minister along with Bhongir MP Boora Narasaiah Goud and Tungaturhi MLA Gadhari Kishore on Thursday conducted a review meeting with officials on various developmental works being carried out in Tungaturthi Assembly constituency at Nagaram R&B guest house.
The Minister directed the officials concerned to speed up Mission Bhagiratha works and complete the construction of overhead tanks at the earliest. He also ordered the respective officials to complete the SRSP works with in three months to provide irrigation facility to farmers and advised the officials to take necessary steps for constructing more distributaries to main canal for the welfare of farmers. He advised them overcome all hurdles during the land acquisition of distributaries.
The Minister instructed the officials to take utmost care while laying roads, and negligence would not be tolerated at any cost. Irregularities in construction of government flagship programme 2 BHK houses will not be accepted and stringent action would be taken against such persons, he added. Officials of Sri Ram Sagar Project, Mission Bhagiratha, Irrigation, Roads and Buildings, Panchayat Raj departments attended the meeting.
NSP canal breached
The Nagarjunasagar canal breached at 115-km milestone at Munagala of Suryapet district during the pipeline laying works being carried adjacent to the canal under Mission Bhagiratha works, on Thursday. On information, the officials of Mission Bhagirtha and District Collector Surendra Mohan immediately alerted the NSP Chief Engineer Sunil over phone and advised him to stop the release of water immediately to avoid wastage of water as the canal was flowing aggressively, and address the breaching issue.
