Traders carry out zero business, hoodwink market committee
Kothagudem: Zero business by traders at the market committee is dealing a crippling blow to the agriculture market committee revenue. The traders are willfully defaulting payment of the market cess by purchasing and transporting goods in the name of the farmers. It would have adverse impact on the market committee revenue and its activities.
In Khammam district, against the targeted cess earnings of Rs 29.49 crore, only Rs 15.89 crore could be realised, meeting 50 per cent of the target. The market committee should make up for the deficient within two months, i.e. by March-end. Realising nearly 50 per cent of the revenue in two months seems to be not feasible.
The following is the break-up: Madhira-Rs 1.60 crore, Khammam-Rs 8.48 crore, Nelakondapalli-Rs 81.62 lakh, Kalluru-Rs 81.62 lakh, Wyra-Rs 1.03 crore and Sattupalli-Rs 1.04 crore.
The follow is the break-up for Bhadrachalam-Kothagudem district: Buragampahad- Rs 1.55 crore, Dammupeta- Rs 96 lakh, Illandu- Rs 70.91 lakh, Bhadrachalam- Rs 77.35 lakh, Kothagudem- Rs 68.65 lakh, and Charla Rs 90.96 lakh.
