Drivers Day celebrated
Warangal: With an objective of acknowledging the services of drivers and appreciate their safe driving practices, ‘Drivers Day’ was celebrated under the aegis of the TSRTC regional office here on Wednesday.
It might be noted that the Drivers Day was first conceptualised by the RTC Warangal Regional Manager T Surya Kiran in January 2017 and now celebrated across the State by the RTC officials as a token of respect to the driver’s community.
Marking the occasion, a rally was taken up from Hanamkonda bus stand to Kaloji circle in the city. The rally was flagged off by Hanamkonda ACP Rajendra Prasad. En route Regional Manager Surya Kiran and other officials offered flower bouquets and greeting cards to drivers as a mark of thanksgiving.
Andhra Bank Chief General Manager Venkateshwara Rao, RTC divisional managers G Ramulu and G Aparna Kalyani, depot managers S Bhupathi Reddy, K Bhanukiran, P Arpitha, Indian Medical Association president Dr M Sudeep, leaders of RTC unions, RTC Hire Bus Owners Association, Walkers Association took part in the rally.
Later on the day, the valedictory ceremony of Road Safety Week was conducted at Warangal-I depot garage. The Regional Manager felicitated scores of RTC bus drivers and hire bus drivers with best safety track record.
Addressing the drivers, Surya Kiran asked the drivers to give utmost importance to the safety practices and avoid using of mobile phones and speaking to passengers onboard while driving. The drivers must be aware of the fact that precious lives of passengers travelling in RTC buses is be in their hands.
