Sita rama project to enrich Khammam ryots
Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao said that his constituency, Palair, is well ahead in development compared to all others in the State.
Launching several developmental works in Tirumalayapalem mandal on Monday, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is determined to provide irrigation facility to at least one crore acres.
“Telangana has become role model for others in the country,” the Minister said, referring to the 24-hour power supply to farming sector and the financial assistance of Rs 8,000 per acre in a year to the farmers to procure fertilisers. Increased godown facility will benefit the farmers in storing their produce until they get a good price, he added.
The farmers coordination committees set up by the government will help the cultivators get remunerative price to their produce, Tummala said, highlighting the TRS government’s endeavour to uplift the farming community.
He said that once the construction of Sita Rama Project is completed, the agriculture in the erstwhile district of Khammam will see new heights. It ensures farmers entirely depend on Nagarjuna Sagar Project Left Canal waters, he said.
The Minister advised the farmers to make better use of Bhakta Ramadasu Lift Irrigation Project waters and not to cause breaches to the canal. Later, he distributed Kalyana Laxmi cheques to 71 beneficiaries.
Earlier, Minister Tummala laid foundation stone for the check dam across Akeru near Thippareddygudem village and 33/11 KV electricity sub-station at Hydersaipet.
Zilla Parishad chairperson G Kavitha, ZP co-option member Ziauddin, ZPTC Banoth Kamala, leaders Nallamalla Venkateswara Rao, Sakhamuri Ramesh, Ramsayam Naresh Reddy and ZP CEO M Nagesh were among others present.
