Wanaparthy: District Collector Swetha Mohanty, as part of her routine inspection, visited the Wanaparthy market yard and interacted with the market officials and farmers on Friday.

Mohanty while interacting with the farmers, tried to find out their problems and issues prevailing in the market. Some of the farmers complained about not getting proper minimum support price (MSP) for groundnut produce at the market yard.  They also complained about the brokers, middlemen and traders forming syndicate and fleecing the farmers by not providing better rates for their agricultural produce.

As Wanaparthy market yard is known for groundnut, large number of farmers from nearby areas bring their produce to this market. However, as farmers were not getting good returns due to the connivance of traders and middlemen, the District Collector warned the market yard officials and agriculture officials to immediately resolve the farmers issues and ensure that proper system be followed and best price be extended for the agriculture produce brought by the farmers at the market yard.

The Collector also directed the market and agriculture officials to provide basic amenities for the farmers and ensure smooth trading in the market yard.
