3 men, sheep killed in ghastly road accident
Nalgonda: In a gruesome road accident, three persons and as many as 55 sheep were killed on the spot when the DCM carrying the men and the sheep overturned and fell into a roadside pit after hitting the culvert. The incident took place at Veliminedu of Chityal mandal in Nalgonda district on Thursday early hours.
All the deceased men were from Warangal district and were identified as Kolluru Rakesh (22), a native of Upparavalli village of Chennaraopeta mandal, Doniki Kumara Swamy (40), of Gollapally of Nekkonda mandal and Mekala Mallaiah, a native of Krisnapur of Sangem mandal.
According to Chityal CI Panduranga Reddy, the DCM, bearing registration number AP-29-T-8388, loaded with sheep was heading towards Hyderabad from Warangal. The vehicle overturned and fell into a roadside pit after hitting the culvert at Veliminedu of Chityal mandal after the driver slipped into slumber.
In this incident Rakesh, Kumara Swamy, and Mallaiah, who were in the driver cabin died on the spot. Similarly, the sheep worth about 3 lakh also died. Upon receiving information, the police rushed the spot and shifted the severely injured driver Medipally Venkatesh to Hyderabad for treatment and shifted the dead bodies of men to Ramannapet hospital for post-mortem.
