Khammam: Three Town secretary of All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA) Pattipaka Naga Sulochana demanded the government to credit the sanctioned loan amount directly to the bank accounts of members of Self Help Groups (SHGs).

A meeting was held with the representatives of AIDWA and members of SHG’s here at AIDWA office under the leadership of Yerra Sukanya in Khammam on Friday. Speaking at the meeting, Naga Sulochana alleged that the bank officials were exerting pressure on the members of the SHGs to open new bank accounts personally for sanctioning of new loans and were denying sanctioning of loans until then.

“In the past, the bank accounts were opened in the name of SHGs team leader and the banks use to sanction the loans in the name of them. But now, the bank officials are asking all the members present in the group to open a new account personally in their names and imposing restrictions over sanctioning of loans,” she alleged.

Many women were facing lot of hardships due to non-sanction of loans to SHGs in the district. The district officials must take initiation and ask the banks to sanction loans as per previous rules without imposing any restrictions, she demanded.

“If the district officials and government will not respond positively, then dharnas will be staged in front of banks,” she warned. Association leaders Joraka Lakshmi, Gopashana Padam, Maddi Kanakamma, Rangu Sushma, Ganna Uma Devi, Mangamma, Uma and Lakshmi were present along with others.
