Congress demands lion’s share of budget for agri sector
Khammam: Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy stated that the TRS government which is going to present last budget in its term must prove its loyalty by giving priority to farm sector.
Addressing media persons here at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan in Khammam on Wednesday, the Congress MLC alleged that the government was behaving negligently towards purchasing red gram from farmers. About 25,000 quintals of red gram was produced in the district, but the government purchased only 4,000 quintals. The officials rejecting to purchase the produce to benefit the middlemen.
“Many a times Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had announced that about Rs 100 crore each was allotted for Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts. What happened to that money and for what developmental activities the funds were spent?” he sought to know.
Stating that the government was playing games with the lives of the students and unemployed youth in the State, Sudhakar Reddy said a lot of mistakes were pointed out in the job notifications released till date.
“All the said issues will be highlighted in the coming up budget sessions in Assembly demanding the government for explanation,” he added, urging party activists and representatives of various people’s organisations to participate in large numbers in the bus yatra to be taken out under the leadership of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Party leaders Md Fazal, Balaji Rao Naik, Raparthi Sharath, Maddi Veera Reddy, Shankar, Zaheer and others were present during the press briefing.
