Services of NSS volunteers lauded

Nalgonda: Palamuru University Vice-Chancellor Professor Raja Ratnam felt that blend of service with education makes students perfect. On Monday, he attended as chief guest to the state-level NSS awards distribution programme held at Mahatma Gandhi University in Anneparthi village in Nalgonda.

Addressing the students, Raja Ratnam recalled that National Service Scheme was launched centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi in 1969 to inculcate service nature among the students. Through NSS camps, volunteers have been creating awareness among people on personnel hygiene, clean surroundings, healthcare and village development. Ratnam lauded the services rendered by NSS volunteers for the welfare of the society.

He advised the students to balance all activities and realise their dreams by taking the needed guidance from professors and by utilising the library services of universities. Education department Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar informed that NSS camps would teach the students about the beauty of team work.      

MGU Vice-Chancellor Altaf Hussain informed that university NSS wing had received an award from President of India recently. NSS regional Director for both Telugu-speaking States informed that NSS of MG University was ahead of all other universities.

Later, guests presented prizes, certificates and medals to NSS State-level awardees. In this programme, State NSS officer Dr Vishnu Kumar, Coordinator Dr Domala Ramesh and university officials, students, awardees of various universities in the State participated. On the occasion, cultural programmes by students enthralled all.
