Bommidala Foundation presents Spoorthi Award to Bala Theresa

Warangal: Bala Vikasa Social Service Society founder Bala Theresa Gingras has been conferred ‘Spoorthi Award’ by Guntur-based Bommidala Foundation. The foundation has been honoring people, who have offered exemplary services to the society in the fields of literature, education, rural development and social service. This year Bala Theresa received the award under rural development field.

She was selected by a jury headed by Ambati Laxman Rao, retired Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. She was presented the award at colourful ceremony at Guntur on Sunday, said a release from the society here on Monday.

AP Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker M Budha Prasad’ who took part in the awards presentation ceremony’ lauded the efforts of Bala Theresa Gingras in the fields of water conservation, and women empowerment. He recalled his association with Bala Vikasa in his Avanigadda constituency during Tsunami rehabilitation programme conducted by the society. Supreme Court Justice L Nageswara Rao said the award gives inspiration to millions of Telugu people. 

Bala Theresa explained Bala Vikasa service activities and asked everyone to make committed efforts to eradicate superstitions and evil customs towards widows. She claimed that her father late Chinnappa Reddy and husband Andre Gingras were inspiration behind her work to the society. 

Renowned Telugu feminist writer Volga, Kuchibotla Anand and KM Yadav were the others, who received Spoorthi Awards in literary, education, and social service sectors respectively. The award function was presided by Laxman Rao, the jury member of the foundation. BalaVikasa executive director S Shoury Reddy, programme managers, officers, field coordinators, committee members, dignitaries of the city congratulated Bala Theresa on receiving the award.
