CPM flays govt for imposing restrictions at agri market

 Khammam: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) district leader Yerra Srinivas Rao stated that in the democratic country like India, the media and political parties has right to question anything which was against the interest of public.

The representatives of the party from Three Town burnt an effigy of the government in protest against the restrictions imposed at agricultural market, for not permitting the media and leaders of opposition parties into the market, and for arresting the CPM party leaders, here at Bose Centre in Khammam on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Rao questioned the government as to why it was not providing the desired minimum support price for farmers for their produce. “It is their right to demand and it is the responsibility of the government to fulfill their demand,” he said. “When many farmers are committing suicide across the State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was even consoling the bereaved families and further trying to gag the voices of opposition parties and media for supporting the farmers,” he alleged.

He demanded the government to lift the restrictions at the market besides fixing the MSP of Rs 15,000 per one quintal for chilli farmers and warned the government that they would intensify the movement if the government goes ahead with restrictions at agriculture market.

Party leaders’ B Yakaiah, V Srinivas Rao, Y Gopi, P Naga Sulochana, S K Babu, B Srinivas Rao, Ch Veera Babu, A Venkanna, S K Masthan, G B Choudhari, Y Nagesh, V Nageshwar Rao, S Papa Rao were present along with others.
