Khammam: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) leader Nunna Nageshwar Rao criticised the government for imposing restrictions at agriculture market and for supporting middlemen. Addressing the media persons during a press meet at Three Town party office here in Khammam on Tuesday, Nunna questioned the government for not giving permission to leaders of political parties, media persons and to representatives of various Rhythu Sanghams to visit the market yard. “If there are any orders issued by the government on keeping restrictions at agriculture market, then the market officials must declare it openly,” he demanded.

“The Khammam agriculture market has become a centre for various illegal activities. To protect itself from being exposed, the government is imposing restrictions and not allowing others to enter the market,” Nunna alleged. When the CPM party along with other left party leaders tried to enter the market to extend support to farmers, the police officials arrested the leaders illegally. “Is it not anti-democratic?” he questioned.

He threatened to launch an agitation if the TRS government went ahead with its adamant attitude. The agitation would continue till the government lifts restrictions on the entry into the agriculture market, he added. Party leaders’ Y Srinivas Rao, Gattu Rama Devi, T Lingaiah, Yerra Gopi, Bhukya Srinivas, S K Babu, Sheelam Veerababu were present along with others.
