MLA camp office yet to get ready
Nalgonda: The State government’s plans to build official camp offices for legislators in their respective constituency headquarters is yet to be realised.
The government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the construction of each MLA camp office at the constituency headquarter. The administration had initiated acquisition of lands two years ago. All legislators should have occupied their camp offices by now as per scheduled.
In erstwhile Nalgonda district, there are 12 Assembly constituencies. Of them, construction of camp office at Nalgonda was completed. Finishing touches are being given to the camp office buildings at Devarakonda and Miryalaguda.
Work is in progress in Munugodu, Nakrekal, Suryapet, Huzurnagar and Bhongir constituencies. In Aler and Tungaturthi, lands for proposed buildings have been identified, whereas in Kodad and Nagarjunasagar, officials are holding discussions with Nagarjuna Sagar Project officials to acquire lands for camp office buildings.
In Nagrjunsagar, due to non-availability of government land, the R&B officials initially decided to construct MLA’s camp office at Halia, but later they withdrew the proposals and urging NSP officials to provide land at NSP camp premises and waiting for their reply.
In Nakrekal, there are allegations that contractor concerned has failed to maintain quality in construction. On the other hand contractor stated that delay in payment of bills was the reason for slow pace of works.
In Surypet constituency, represented by Minister Jagadish Reddy, camp office has been constructing in 3,000 square yards at an estimated cost of Rs 1.50 crores. In Tungaturthi constituency, officials initially proposed to construct MLA residence at Minister Jagadish Reddy native place, Nagaram, but withdrew it for unknown reasons. Recently, officials acquired 1,000 square yards at Tungaturhi and getting ready to start the works.
As there is no government land at Kodad town, officials concerned are discussing with NSP officials for required land at their camp premises. In Aler constituency, represented by the Government Whip, officials initially planned to construct MLA’s residence at Yadgirigutta, but now they are going to start construction at constituency headquarter, Aler itself.
