Minister advises people to keep environs clean

Khammam: Cleanliness and pleasant environs help keep the villages healthy, Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao said here on Thursday. The Minister, while laying foundation stone for a bitumen road at Lal Singh Tanda under Kusumanchi mandal, advised the people to keep their environs clean and hygiene to complement the government’s efforts.

Responding to the grievances poured out by the people, Nageswara Rao directed the officials to reach out to the people in rural areas and take steps to address the problems being faced by them. 

Later inaugurating the double bedroom houses constructed at a cost of Rs 91 lakh at Gaigollapalli village, the Minister assured the people that houses would be built for all the eligible in the next phase. He directed the officials to ensure distribution of pensions (Asara, widow, single women etc.) in time. 

The government is also mulling providing Rs 1,000 per month assistance to those suffering from filariasis, also known as elephantiasis, in the upcoming budget, he said, referring to the high prevalence of the incidence in the region.

“All the farmers will get Rs 4,000 per acre as input subsidy before they commence kharif operations. District administration will make arrangements to distribute the amount to farmers,” minister said.

Referring to the implementation of welfare schemes, the Minister said that Khammam is in the forefront of all other districts in the State. He commended the district administration for its efforts.

Scheduled Caste Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi, DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, RDO Purnachandra, MPDO Vidya Chandana, ZPTC Ramachandru Naik, MPTC Shailaja, Gaigollapalli Sarpanch Mounika and farmers’ coordinator Venkateswar Rao were among others present.
