Khammam: Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sada Niranjan on Thursday directed the auto-rickshaw drivers to install digital meters on their vehicles.

On the orders of Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal, the traffic police conducted an awareness programme for the auto-rickshaw drivers on digital meters and traffic rules at Traffic Counselling Centre at Prakashnagar here.

Speaking on the occasion, Sada Niranjan said the drivers did not get digital meters installed on their vehicles though orders were given three months ago. He warned that the auto-rickshaws, which were being operated without digital meters, would be seized.

The ACP told the drivers that they should possess driving licences and wear uniform. Apart from it, they should displace their identity cards, too, he said. He urged the drivers to hand over the passengers’ belongings, if left behind, to the police.

He also appealed to the drivers to give information about the anti-social elements if they came across such activities.

Inspector of Police N Chitti Babu and Auto Union leaders Krishna, Viplav, Upendar and Ramesh were present.
