Govt fails to allot sufficient funds for education: SFI
Khammam: District Secretary of the Student Federation of India (SFI) Thalla Nagaraju here on Friday alleged that the funds allocated in the State Budget for education was negligible.
The SFI district office-bearers meeting was held under the leadership of Chintala Ramesh here at Sundarayya Bhavan. Speaking at the meeting, Nagaraju said instead of allotting 30 per cent of funds for the education sector the State government completely neglected the education and was playing with the lives of the poor students.
He regretted that the State government had allotted only Rs 16,101 crore for the education in the budget that was presented on Thursday for the year 2018-19.
The government lacked any interest in development of education sector and it had completely neglected the higher education by not allotting sufficient funds for it, he said. In protest against the government for not allotting sufficient funds and for neglecting the education sector, the SFI would organise protests across the State, he said.
He urged the students and representatives of various students unions to participate in protests. The SFI representatives J Ashok, Uma, Mahesh and Madhu were present along with others.
