Khammam Municipal workers demand salaries hike

Khammam: The Leaders of the Left parties and INTUC here on Wednesdaydemanded that the government implement the GO number 14 immediately and enhance the salaries of Municipal workers. 

The municipal workers in Khammam district participated in the strike and took out a rally from Municipal office to dharna chowk and staged a sit-in here in front of the Collectorate at Dharna Chowk here. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of the Left parties said that as per the 10th PRC, the State government should enhance the salaries for all the Municipal workers in the State with effect from June 2, 2014.

To grab the votes of the municipal workers, the TRS government has hiked the salaries of workers in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, while ignoring the municipal workers in districts, they alleged. Due to several movements, the government had promised to enhance the salaries of the Municipal workers. But the government failed to fulfil the promise, they said. 

The leaders threatened to intensify the agitation if the government failed to enhance the salaries of the workers. CPI district unit Secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao, CPI-ML New Democracy district Secretary Gokineni Venkateshwar Rao, CPM District Leader Yerra Srikanth, INTUC District leader Kotta Sitharamulu, Congress Corporator Bala Gangadhar Tilak, CITU District president K Narasmiha Rao, IFTU District Secretary G Ramaiah, AITUC District Secretary Singu Narasimha Rao, Md. Pasha, T Vishnu Vardhan, Ch Viplav Kumar, Gade Lakshminarayana and T Krishna were present along with municipal workers.
