Nalgonda: Reacting sharply on the complaint of ICDS officials about baby selling in Gashiram Thanda of Junuthala village of Gurrampodu mandal in the district, the police successfully united the baby girl with her mother.

According to complaint by ICDS officials, a pregnant woman, Megavath Sonaki, registered her name at Anganwadi centre located in the village. She went to her mother’s house for delivery at Rajavaram of Tripuraram mandal.

There she gave birth to a girl in her second delivery and stayed at her mother’s home for few days before returning to her house sans the baby.

Shocked Anganwadi teacher questioned Sonaki about her delivery and whereabouts of the baby, to which the mother gave different answers.

Suspecting selling or murder of the baby, the Anganwadi teacher brought the matter to the notice of ICDS official Sakkubai, who immediately lodged a complaint against Sonaki with Gurrampodu police on Monday.

During police investigation, it was revealed that Sonaki sold her baby to one Charlapallly Linga Swamy. He was called to the station. Upon questioning, Linga Swamy informed the police that he did not bought the baby, instead he claimed to have adopted the baby.

However, police educated him about the adoption procedure and ordered him to return the girl immediately to her parents, to which he complied.
