MRPS seeks 2,000 pension for poor Madigas, categorisation
Khammam: State official spokesperson of Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (TS-MRPS) Perla Madhu demanded the government to sanction Rs 2,000 pension for people belonging to Madiga community who are living under miserable conditions in the State.
The representatives of TS-MRPS took out a rally from Ambedkar Bhavan to Collectorate under the leadership of State general secretary M Prabhakar and staged a sit-in at Dharna Chowk in front the Collectorate in Khammam on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhu said people of the community who were shoe-makers and drum-makers have been living under miserable conditions and were unable to nourish their families with meagre money they get.
The government by identifying such people of the community must sanction Rs 2,000 as pension every month and bail them out, he demanded.
“The Central government is trying to cheat SC community people by not fulfilling the promise of categorisation. The TRS government with the help of opposition must exert pressure on the Centre for categorisation,” he sought.
Later, the agitating representatives submitted a memorandum to District Collector D S Lokesh at the Collectorate.
Samithi’s district president Lanka Venkateshwarlu, city president Srinivas P Guru Murthy, Vempalli Krishna, Perla Shyam, Guruvaiah, Narasamma, L Kranthi, A Narasimha and T Krishna and others took part in the sit-in.
