TVS mopeds distributed to fisherman community in Gadwal

Gadwal: Fisherman community in Jogulamba Gadwal district were given TVS mopeds on subsidy as part of government’s initiative to encourage and promote self-employment among fisherman in the district. 

District Collector Raja Kumar Saini along with Gadwal MLA D K Aruna and Bhandari Bhaskar, Zilla Parishad Chairman of United Mahbubnagar district, distributed 23 TVS Exel mopeds to the beneficiaries. The government sanctioned Rs 30,000 as subsidy for each moped.

The main objective behind the distribution of mopeds to the fisherman is to enable them easy transportation in the rural areas for marketing their fish produce and encourage them to earn a handsome income and lead a better life. 

While speaking on the occasion, Bhaskar said, “The Telangana State government is encouraging all sections and communities in the society to take up the traditional employment. As part of this, the TRS government is distributing sheep on subsidy to Gollas and Kurumas. Till date we have released one core fingerlings in the district to help the fisherman. We are providing mopeds to the fishermen now on subsidy.”

District Collector Raj Kumar said the government is doing what all it can do to ensure better living standards and providing opportunities for each and every one to take up self-employment. “The fish released during last rainy season have grown to a good size now and the fishermen are reaping a good harvest. 

For helping them easy transportation and enable them to market their fish we have distributed 23 mopeds on subsidy to the fishermen. Overall 29 vehicles were sanctioned however at present 23 were distributed, while six would soon be given as and when we get them,” said the Collector.

He further said in the coming days the district administration would focus on development of dairy sector. Apart from officials from different departments, M. Satyanarayna, Fisherman Association President of united Mahbubnagar took part in the programme.
