Any time no money in ATM's!

​Khammam: Most of the ATM centres in the Khammam district are greeting the people with ‘No-Cash’ signboards in front of them for the past two-and-half months. The cash crunch in ATMs and in bank branches has left the customers in lurch since Sankranti in the district.

People in Khammam have been facing an acute shortage. banks and ATMs have been failing to provide notes. Even the nationalised banks in the city are facing cash crunch.  Customers are very much disappointed as they cannot their own money from ATMs. Currency notes in denomination of Rs 2000 are not in supply. People, who visit the ATMS, are returning disappointed. 

It is learnt that the State Bank of India (SBI), which has the maximum number of branches and ATMs in the city cannot ensure that its customers can draw money from the ATMs. It is also said to have restricted the number withdrawals  and also amount of money by its customers.

A bank official on condition of anonymity said the cash being received from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is not sufficient even to meet half of requirements. Due to shortage of money, certain restrictions on withdrawal of cash has been imposed.

 K Srinivas, the resident of the Mammilagudem, who runs an Electronics shop, said, “I stopped depositing the money in the bank for the last one-and-half month because of the problem being faced by the customers in withdrawing the money.”

City Secretary of CPI-ML-New Democracy party Tupakula Nageshwar Rao alleged that the people in the city are facing lot of problems because of cash crunch. The economic reforms had led to sufferings of people. He demanded that the banks open special held desk or contact centres round-the-clock to help the customers.
