Khammam: District Secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Nunna Nageshwar Rao here on Monday criticised the Central government of robbing the people by jacking up petrol and diesel prices. He demanded that the government bring the petrol and diesel under the ambit GST to check the price rise.

Nageswara Rao along with party leaders pulled an auto-rickshaw through streets from Sundarayyanagar to Saritha Clinic centre to highlight the abnormal increase of petrol diesel prices.
The CPI-M leaders accused the Centre of raising the excise duty nine times since November 2014 oil prices fell in international market.

The Centre lowered the tax on petroleum produce only once by Rs 2 a litre.
Speaking on the occasion, Nageshwar Rao alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party after coming to power increased the petrol and diesel prices nearly ten times.

With the hike in petrol and diesel prices, the prices of commodities and vegetables are also going up.
To reduce the burden on the people, the Central government should lower the petrol and diesel prices immediately and bring the petrol and diesel under GST regime, he demanded.
