Cong demands compensation to rain-hit farmers
Khammam: Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy here on Wednesday demanded that the government come to the rescue of the rain and hailstorm-hit farmers in the State.
Jana Reddy along with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy inspected the damaged crops due to unseasonal rains on Sunday evening here at Venkatapuram, Suvarnapuram and Gokinapalli villages under Mudigonda mandal in the district on Wednesday.
The Leader of Opposition interacted with farmers and enquired the farmers about the loss they faced due to unseasonal rains.Speaking on the occasion, Jana Reddy demanded that the government enumerate the crop loss accurately and pay compensation immediately to the farmers to bail them out of the trouble.
The government, he said, failed to order enumeration of crop loss till this day. The State government was anti-farmer. The Congress party would fight in support of the farmers, he promised.The TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said it is sad to know that the government did not take any initiative for estimating the loss of crop.
In Mudigonda mandal alone maize crop in nearly 10,000 acres was damaged due to unexpected rains. He urged the government to form teams to enumerate crop loss in the districts immediately.The MPP Lakshmi, ZPTC Nageshwar Rao, District Congress party leaders Nageshwar Rao and Afzal were present.
