Sewerage treatment plant installed at KGBV
Mahbubnagar: The Kasturiba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Yenugonda village in Mahabubnagar district has taken a lead in using recycled water by installing a sewerage treatment plant (STP) on its premises.
District Collector Ronald Rose and local MLA Srinivas Goud inaugurated the first of its kind sewerage treatment plant at the KGBV on Tuesday. While speaking on the occasion, the Collector said, “The newly installed sewerage treatment plant will help the students recycle the used drain water and the same water can be used for growing plants and gardening on the school premises.”
The students face severe shortage of water during summer. installation of STP is of a great relief to the students. The new STP plant was installed by the Globus Water Project Private Limited from Hyderabad.The water treatment plant uses the sludgeless treatment technology and it is installed at an estimated cost of Rs 12.09 lakh.
“For ensuring that the education schedule do not suffer due to scarcity of water, we have designed a comprehensive plan to establish STPs in all the KGBVs. As this is a pilot project, we want to study the pros and cons and take up installation of STPs in other KGBVs soon,” said the Collector.
The Collector directed the officials concerned to prepare a detailed cost estimate of all those proposed STPs in all the KGBVs in the district and submit it to the government, so that approvals can be obtained as early as possible.
Somi Reddy, District Education Officer, K. Jyothi Counsellor, Asrakhadri, special officer of KGBV, B. Shankaramma, Srinivasulu, Executive Engineer, K. Ramulu Deputy Executive Engineer, M. Venkatreddy Assistant engineer and others took part in the inauguration of the STP.
