Seed shops raided; erring seed sellers warned of action

Kothagudem: District Police and Agricultural officers, in a joint operation, conducted checks at sevral shops selling seeds in their efforts to curb sale of substandard seeds in the district.  The special drive was conducted here at the Sujathanagar Mandal on Friday. 

District Superintendent of Police constituted five teams consisting Agricultural police officials. As part of the drive, the  Sujatha Nagar Circle Inspector Ravinder and team inspected the seed shops and verified seed packets and bills. 

He said as per the directioins of the SP, the teams had been inspecting the seed shops in the the district.  He said all shops in the mandal had been checked. He also warned to all seed distributors and owners not to sell substandard seeds to farmers. If anyone was found violating the orders, strct action would be taken against then and the shops would be sealed, he added.
