Tension builds as farmer electrocuted

Nalgonda: Tension prevailed at Transco Superintendent Engineer’s office in Nalgonda as the villagers of G Yedavally under Kangal mandal staged a protest demonstration with body of farmer who was electrocuted on Friday.

According to the sources, farmer Pole Chidambaram (32) of G.Yadavalli village asked a helper working in Electricity Department to stop power to a feeder line to enable the former to replace the melted fuse. The helper allegedly stopped the power to another feeder line.When Chidambaram tried to replace the melted fuse after climbing the pole he was electrocuted, it is alleged.
 
Expressing their anger over apathy on the part of the helper, villagers under the leadership of Congress leaders Anup Reddy and Gummala Mohan Reddy staged a sit-in protest with farmer’s body in front of the TRANSCO SE office in Nalgonda and demanded justice to the victim families.

TRANSCO Divsional Engineer Srinivas held meeting with the leaders and announced Rs 4 lakhs ex gratia and attender job to the wife of the deceased farmer, sources said.
