Ensure potable water to every village: Collector
Khammam: The Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) should play a crucial role in implementing the various kinds of welfare schemes, said District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar here on Thursday.
The Collector, while holding a review meeting with the MPDOs, directed the officials to take necessary steps to address the drinking water problem in every village in their respective mandals. Funds were released to ensure that there is no drinking water problem.
The Collector instructed the officials to complete the pending audit works in the villages and mandal panchayats as early as possible and submit the details of the works completed.
The MPDOs should visit nurseries on every Friday and inspect the saplings. He also directed the officials to ensure that more persons are enrolled under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The Collector suggested that the MPDOs take measures to ensure that Anganwadi centres provide services like offering nutritious diet for pregnant woman during summer holiday too. He sought cooperation from Agriculture officials in implementing the Rythu Bandhu scheme launched prestigiously by the State government from this month.
As per the guidelines issued by the State and Central governments, various programmes would be organised from April 14 to May 5 under Gram Swaraj Yojana, said the Collector.District Panchayat Officer Srinivas Reddy, DRDA Additional Project Director Indhumati, Audit officials, MPDO’s and others were present.
