Bhongir: Farmers, who brought paddy to the IKP centre and the Agriculture Market Yard, are a disappointed lot as they cannot sell their produce till Monday.

The Bhongir Market Yard has been flooded with paddy bags as the farmers brought their farm produce from Sunday afternoon. Officials of market yard told the farmers that they wold start the purchasing of paddy from Monday onwards.

But the officials postponed the operations to Tuesday as Monday was considered as inauspicious day (Amavasya). In a bid to pacify the agitating farmers, the officials examined the moisture content in just nine heaps and washed of their hands.

The farmers questioned the officials why they had failed to inform them in advance that they would begin purchasing paddy from Tuesday.

District Collector Anitha Ramachandran visited the Bhongir Market Yard and instructed the officials to ensure that the farmers do not face problem in selling their produce.
