Khammam: As part of the call given by the State Committee of the Communist Party of India (CPI), the party district unit leaders on Monday organised a jail bharo programme, demanding that the Central government implement Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

The CPI leaders took out a procession from old CPI office to the district Collectorate, raising slogans against the government and tried to lay a siege to the Collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged that both the State and Central governments had utterly failed to implement the promises made at the time of bifurcation of the State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to protect Prime Minister Narendra Modi by coming to a tacit understanding with the latter, they said.

Meanwhile, the police, after heated argument with the agitators, took them into custody. District Secretary of the CPI Bagam Hemanth Rao, Potu Prasad, Dhandi Suresh, Shingu Narismha Rao, S K Jani Miya, B G Climont and Thati Venkateswhar Rao were among those arrested.
