CPI conducts jail bharo in Kothagudem
Kothagudem: Criticising the Central government for not implementing the promises made in State Reorganisation Act, CPI leaders and activists conducted ‘jail bharo’ programme in Kothagudem on Monday.
Earlier, a huge rally was held in the city in which party activists from surrounding areas also joined. They raised anit-government slogans.
After the rally, the activists staged a protest at the Collectorate and tried to lay siege. The police prevented them from barging into the Collectorate and took 500 leaders into custody. The arrested leaders were shifted to police station.
Speaking on the occasion, party State joint secretary Kunamaneni Sambasiva Rao alleged that the Central government was not implementing the promises it made to the State during reorganisation.
The KCR government in the State also not implementing its election promises, he pointed out. He questioned KCR, who supported the BJP government in the election of vice-president, why he was silent when the Centre was not implementing its promises.
KCR was behaving like a dictator and suppressing the voices of Opposition parties in the State, he alleged. Party district secretary Shabeer Pasha, district leaders Ayodhya, Sailu, G Satyanarayana, Brahmam, K Venkateswarlu, R Ravi Kumar and others attended the protest.
