Fire Service Week celebrated
Khammam: Most of the fire accidents hapen due to electrical short-circuits, leakage of gas cylinders and lack of awareness on safety measures, besides negligence, said the Fire Officer Kranthi Kumar here on Wednesday.
As part of Fire Service Week (FSW), which is being observed from April 14 to 20 across the country, the officials of Fire Services conducted an awareness programme here at Harvest High School here. The officials educated the students on safety measures to be taken to prevent fire accidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Kranthi Kumar said that Fire Service Week is observed to pay homage to those brave firefighters, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty on April 14, 1944.
The School Correspondent Ravi Marath also spoke on the occasion. School principal Parvathi Reddy, staff members and students were present.
The programme was held after The Hans India published a report that the Fire Services Department had failed to conduct the Week.
