TRS Govt committed to welfare of farmers: Laxma Reddy
Mahbubnagar: While taking part in various development programmes in Badepally under Jadcherla mandal on Friday, C Laxma Reddy, Health Minister, said the State government is giving highest priority for the welfare of farmers and the farm sector in the State.
Laxma Reddy was inaugurating Raytu Bazaar constructed at a cost of Rs 1.25 cores in Badepally, and Sri Nidhi Bhavan constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakhs at Sriramnagar in Jadcherla mandal on Friday. Later he also inaugurated a paddy procurement centre in the Agriculture Market Yard.
While speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister said, “Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is himself a farmer and he knows the problems and issues being faced by the farming community. In fact, KCR is a supporter of the farming community and because he knows the problems being faced by them he had initiated a unique scheme called ‘Rytu Bhandu’ to provide Rs 8,000 per acre per farmers as input subsidy for two seasons in a year,” said the Minsiter.
Adding further, Laxma Reddy said nowhere in the country had any State government implemented such a unique scheme to financially aid the farmers for their agriculture needs.
The State government’s initiatives had helped prevent sucides by the farmers. “Unlike in the earlier government regimes during united Andhra Pradesh, we used to see farmers commit suicides due crop losses with droughts, floods and increased debts.
Farmers suffered huge losses due to lack of power and lack of support price during Congress regime. Thanks to KCR and his innovative measures today we are a power surplus State and providing 24-hour free power to farmers.
We are constructing warehouses, market yards and opening procurement centres for the farmers to sell their products at Minimum support price,” said the Minister.
The Minister said after formation of Telangana State, the situation has totally changed. He said the State government is working with commitment to complete all the pending irrigation projects on time and not only that the State government had also launched the most prestigious Palamurur Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project under which the State government is committed to provide irrigation water to more than 10 lakh acres in the next two to three years.
Reiterating that the government is not only committed to complete all the irrigation projects but also renovate all the tanks and lakes in the district and fill it with the lift irrigation water and see that each and every bit of land is cultivated and help the farmers become prosperous.
