Tenant farmers demand Rythu Bandhu scheme

 ​Kothagudem:  Tenant farmers are demanding that the government consider including them in Rytu Bandhu scheme. Each farmer will get Rs 4,000 per an acre per each season as input subsidy. 

 The government has already made all preparation to distribute the subsidty to farmers in the first phase. As many as 39,685 farmers in the district will be benefited in the first phase. The offficials of the agricultural officers are ready to distribute the cheques to each farmer at Gramasabhas.  

The district administration is planning to the distribute the cheques in the second week o f May. The government allotted Rs 45 crore  to implement the scheme in the first phase. Farmers are expressing their happiness over scheme. But in the district, not less than 55 per cent of land is cultivated by tenant farmers. The tenant farmers are angry because they are excluded from the scheme. 

The government instructed the officers to distribute cheques to those farmers who have Pattadar Passbooks and Aadhaar cards. The officers also said the farmers should produce passbooks and Aadhaar cards to get the benfit. The tenant farmers are unhappy over the government decision.  

The rent the tenants are paying to landlords is very high. It ranged between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 an acre. Against this backgrounds, the tenants are demanding that the government consider extenind the benefit to them also. 

Tenants in Kothagudem, Julurupadu, Chandrugonds, Annapureddy Pally, Palvoncha, Tekulapally, Yellandu, Burgumpadhu and  Bhadrachalam mandals are registered their protest. A tenant farmer P Ramaiah in the district said the government is giving the all facilities to the farmers. He demanded that the landlords reduce the rent this year as they are receiving benefit from the government.
