‘Rythu Vedikalu’ will help farmers: Energy Minister
Nagarjuna Sagar ( Nalgonda): Energy Minister G Jagdishwar Reddy said that the State government has constituted the Rythu Samanvaya Samithis to forge a unity among the farmers of the State.
Speaking at an awareness program on ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme at Halia in Nagarjunasagar constituency on Tuesday, the Minister said that ‘Rythu vedikalu’ would be constructed in villages so that they would become lifelines to the farming community in the State.
He pointed out that the farmers were being forced to sell their crop at the prices fixed by the government or traders. If farmers were capable of fixing the price of their produce, it would completely change the face of the agricultural sector in the State.
Minister Jagdish Reddy said that earlier, the rulers neglected the agricultural sector during the last 60 years which led to an increase in the farmers’ suicides in Telangana region.
The ayacut farmers of left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar project had faced several problems due to the inefficiency of Congress leaders in united Andhra Pradesh but under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao now, the State government has succeeded in providing irrigation facilities to all majors .
Stating that the CLP leader K Jana Reddy has no commitment towards the farming community, the Minster questioned Jana Reddy about his contribution to the constituency in his 30 years of political life.
Lashing out at the Congress leaders for creating hurdles to the irrigation projects by filing cases in the courts , he informed that barren lands in the State would become fertile after the completion of ongoing irrigation projects.
In this program Rythu Samanva Samithi district president Ramchandra Naik , TRS Sagar Constituency incharge N Narsimhaiah, former DCCB chairman Y Vijayender Reddy, officials of line departments and large number of farmers were present.
