Padayatra to raise awareness on govt schools in Khammam district

Khammam: Chairman of the Guru Seva Samiti (GSS) and district unit president of the Telangana Progressive Teachers Union (TPTU) Kottapalli Guru Prasad here on Wednesday said he would undertake padayatra to raise awareness among people on government schools. He would begin padayatra along with the members of Guuru Seva Samithi on May 18 from Jamalapuram village under Madhira constituency in Khammam district.   

Speaking to the media persons, Guru Prasad said the State government is taking several steps for strengthening the government schools. The government has introduced KG to PG free education and also launched Gurukul schools, besides improving standards in welfare hostels. 

But, many parents have opted to admit their children private schools by paying high fee. It is high time that a campaign was launched to educate people on the need to admit their children in government-run schools, he said.

The government schools, he said, are offering quality education. Well-trained teachers in the schools are taking every care to ensure that quality education is offered to the children, he said.  

The Pada Yatra will begin on May 18 from Jamalapuram village under Yerrupalem mandal of Madhira constituency and will cover the Yerrypalem, Madhira, Bonakal, Chintakani and Mudigonda mandals and will conclude with a meeting in Madhira, he added.

The Association members Modam Veerabhadra Rao, Pandiri Ramesh, Sangurthi Prakash Rao and Jetlapalli Babu Rao were present in the press meet.
