Khammam: District Congress party leaders here on Wednesday contradicted the claim by the government that the farmers are celebrating the introduction of Rythu Bandhu.

District Congress Party Official Spokesperson Puvvalla Durga Prasad told reporters at Sanjeev Reddy Bhavan that the government had failed to rescue farmers from distress. Though the agriculture produce was demanded due to unseasonal rains, the government had failed so far to pay compensation.

He recalled that the Opposition parties were demanding that the government purchase water-soaked paddy. But the government had not taken any concrete steps in this regard, he said. The farmers in the district suffered huge loss due to unseasonal rains and thunderstorms. He demanded that the district administration provide all facilities at market yards.

District Congress leaders Md. Javed, Seva Dal Chairman Velpula Jayraj, SC Cell chairman Pucchakayala Veerabhadram, BC Cell Chairman Makka Shekar and Marabolu Srinivas were present at the programme.
