Khammam: The main aim of the State government is to bail out the debt-ridden farmers and make the agriculture profitable, said Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao here on Wednesday.

The Minister was participating in the Rythu Bandhu programme in Thirumalayapalem, Chintakani, Khammam rural and Bonakal mandals.

Speaking on the occasion, Nageswara Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had instilled much-needed self- confidence among the farmers in the State. The scheme is worth emulating across the country, he said.

He listed out welfare measures like 24-hours free power, fertilisers, seeds, irrigation projects, providing minimum support price for the produce, construction of warehouses for storing food grains to make the farmer a king. Now, the government had introduced Rythu Bandhu scheme, he said, to ensure that farmer need not seek loans from moneylenders. The purification of land records helped the farmers.
