Khammam: Farmers in several parts of the district have encountered difficulty in having the benefit of Rythu Bandhu scheme because of errors galore in pattadar passbooks and cheques distributed to them.

The State government launched on May 10 the prestigious Rythu Bandhu scheme under which each farmer is Rs 4,000 for crop investment in each of two seasons.  It may be recalled that the State government had land records updated by spending Rs 90 crore to ensure that the farmers did get the benefit.

In fact, the Revenue officials had faced difficulties in updating the land records which were not brought up to date. The officials at times stayed in one or the village overnight to purify the land records.

Now, the farmers and Revenue officials faced problems because in some cases names of the farmers were misspelt in pattadar passbooks. In some other cases, there is mismatch in the photograph printing on the passbooks and actual photographs of the beneficiaries.

A report has reportedly been submitted to the government, saying that mistakes had crept into about three lakh passbooks distributed to the farmers in in Khammam, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Medak, Nirmal, Kamareddy and Mahbubnagar districts.

Telangana Jana Samiti leader Bhadru Naik demanded that errors in passbooks be corrected. There are reports of farmers staging a protest at distribution centres.

The Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said mistakes were likely to happen in such a massive project. He assured the farmers that the mistakes would be corrected.
