Tribal woman to play in Indian Women’s Cricket Team

Khammam: There is no play ground or even a cricket kit to practise, but the determination and passion has helped a tribal girl Vinoda of Gangabandathanda under Kusumanchi mandal to attain greater heights and get selected as a member in the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team.

 It was more than a dream come true for the Vinoda to receive the message from Cricket Association that she was selected to become a part of the National T-20 team to play in five nations Women Cricket Competition, to be held from May 21t in Chandigarh.

 Born in a poor family to Vadthya Devula and Sugunamma, the journey of Vinoda into the field of Cricket started when she was studying in 8th standard. With the encouragement of her teachers, Vinoda, who did her schooling in Kusumanchi mandal, had been selected under-19 cricket team for Women Cricket Competitions held in Vijayawada. 

From then, Vinoda participated in several State and national level competitions and performed well in every competition. Vinoda, had been selected as a vice-captain for National level competitions that are held in 2012.
