Dummagudem (Kothagudem): The farmers of neighboring villages, who were given tokens instead of cheques of Rythu Bandhu Scheme, have waited all day at Tahsildar office in Lakshminagaram of Dummagudem mandal on Monday, to get the cheques. Since early hours of the day, the farmers waited for the officials to get the cheques but of no use.

A farmer, Gopaiah, said that the officials had given them tokens instead of cheques during gram sabha and told to collect their cheques at the tahsildar office on Monday. But there were no officers at the office and the staff told us that the officers went for a meeting, he added.

“Daily we are coming to the office and returning with empty hands. We are happy at the government’s initiative. But what is the use if the officials are no cooperating,” he questioned.

On the other hand, farmers were waiting in front of the banks in their villages to withdraw their cheques. The State government had distributed cheques worth Rs 4,000 to farmers under Rythu Bandhu Scheme for Kharif season. The distribution was conducted from May 10 to 17.
