Jiyapally lynching: Rachakonda Cops take 6 people into custody

Bibinagar (Yadadri-Bhongir): The Rachakonda police arrested six people for allegedly lynching a 32-year-old man, suspecting him to be a kidnapper, on Thursday. The mob lynching incident took place on Tuesday night under the limits of Bibinagar police station.

According to police, Nimmala Balakrishna, a native of Korremula village, went to his relatives’ home located at Jiyapally of Ghatkesar division. At around 7 pm, Balakrishna went outside to attend nature’s call and was spotted by one DharavathMallesh near Jiyapally Thanda, who suspected him to be a kidnapper. 

Malleshalerted others, who rushed and cornered the victim. The mob indiscriminately thrashed him with hands and sticks, resulting in multiple severe injuries, including leg fracture. Then they took him to Jiyapally village and left him at grampanchayat office. 

The villagers informed his relatives based on the information provided by the victim. His friends and relatives came from Korremula to shift him to their village. The victim, however, succumbed to injuries on the way to Korremula.

“As of now, we have identified 18 offenders, and nine of them are absconding,” said E Ramchandra Reddy, DCP Bhongir Zone. He appealed not to believe in rumours and false messages.

The arrested persons have been identified as D Mallesh (25), D Srinu (35), D Ravi (26), M Ravu (23) and D Srikanth (19), all residents of JiyapallyThanda and Md Jahangir (24), resident of Jiyapally village. 

The accused were booked under Section 147 (Punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 302 (Punishment for murder) read with 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of an offence committed in prosecution of common object) IPC.
