Khammam: Communist of India-Marxist (CPI-M) activists here on Thursday staged demonstrations in front of the Tahsildar office, demanding allotment of double bedroom house to all the eligible people.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI-M party State leader Ponnam Venkateshwar Rao claimed that the movements led by the party had forced the successive government distributing house sites to 4,000 persons under Indirramma Housing Scheme.

But the TRS government had distributed house sites only to 600 during the last four years, he said. There were 9,225 persons eligible for house site, he said.

He alleged that the TRS government had built mere 200 double bedroom houses and allotted them to the party corporators and cadre, ignoring the homeless poor. He demanded that the government allot the house sites to all the eligible people.

The police foiled the attempt by the CPI-M activists to lay a siege to the Tahsildar office and whisked them away.

CPI-M party leaders Buggaveeti Sarala, Y Srikanth, T Lingaiah, Y Srinivas Rao, M A Jabbar, N Naresh, P Nagasulochana, S Veerababu, B Venkat Kumar, Amaravathi, Ramya, Begum, Ajitha, Nagamani, S K Qasim, D Nageshwar Rao, Sarangi Papa Rao, M Srinu, Chowdari, Mallikarjun, Pushpa, Hanumantha Chary, Premchand, Nagaraju, G Beemaiah and Balaji were among those arrested.
