No respite from sizzling heat in Khammam
Khammam/Warangal/ Karimnagar: There seems to be no respite from the sweltering heat in Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts. Day temperatures touched above 40 degree Celsius during Rohini Karthi.Traditionally, Rohini Karthi is the considered as hottest of the year. There is a saying that “grinding stones in kitche will crack” during this period.
Khammam city recorded 44 degree Celsius, Warangal and Karimnagar districts 42 degree Celsius. According to the met forecast, the mercury is likely to soar in the first few days of Rohini Karthi and then start to decline. But the severity of heat continues in Khammam and Warangal.
With temperatures soaring, people has mostly confined themselves indoors from 11 am onwards. The number of vehicles plying during daytime have come down.
According to unofficial estimates, nearly 40 people were struck by sunstroke so far in Khammam, Karimnagar and Warangal districts. The officials confirmed six deaths due to sunstroke so far this year.
