Liquor, beer sales touch new high in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: The summer season witnessed record sale of liquor and beer in both districts--khammam and Bhadradri -Kothagudem, according to official sources. 

In the month of May the residents of the two districts guzzled liquor and beer worth Rs. 112.32 crore, which surprised the officers of the Excise and Prohibition department. It is one of the best sales in the history of the department, said the concern officials.

 One more record that had taken the department by surprise was sales of beer this summer season in the districts.    The last year the depot sales in the month of May stood at Rs. 102.88 crore which rose Rs.112.32 crore this year.  

The figured shows how the liquor consumption has increased in the two districts as compared to last year.  The liquor is supplied to any shops in both the districts from the depot of the IML in Wyra  Mandal.

 As many as 2,10, 078 cases of liquor of various types were sold last year. This year the figure jumped to 2,64,723 cases.

Besides pure liquor, demand for liquor beer was in good demand this year since the start of the summer season.  A total of  2,64,723 cartons of liquor beer cartons were sold this year in the month of May, officials said.   

Last year, 2, 42,539 cartons of beer liquor was sold across the both districts.  One case of liquor contains 8.64 litres of alcohol and one carton of beer contains 7.8 litres of alcohol.
