Children hospital holds diagnostic camp for traffic police personnel in Mahbubnagar
Mahbubnagar: A diagnostic camp for Traffic police personnel was held here on Wednesday by Ravi Children Hospital as part of social corporate responsibility. Tests such as Spirometry Pulmonary Function (SPF) tests were conducted.
A total of 26 constables and eight Inspectors of Police and other senior traffic police officials serving in Mahbubnagar traffic police wing utilised the opportunity.
While speaking on the occasion Traffic Inspector Amaranth Reddy said the Traffic police are working round the clock and are prone to various lung related disorders due to prolonged stay on the dusty roads. He thanked the management of the Ravi Children Hospital for catering to the healthcare needs of the traffic police constables.
“If we go and take the lung related diagnostic test outside, it costs anywhere between Rs. 1000-1500 per persons. But the Ravi Children’s hospital is providing free diagnostic tests and giving medical advice to those who are found to be having respiratory disease,” said the traffic inspector.
Dr V Shekar, medical director of Ravi Children’s Hospital said, “we as part of corporate social responsibility providing free SPF tests to the traffic police constables because they are more vulnerable to lung and respiratory related diseases as they spend most of the time in the dusty and polluted environment diverting the traffic and controlling the vehicular movement.
The traffic police are at high risk of contracting respiratory diseases and we felt it is our duty to extend a helping hand and provide them advanced diagnosis of their condition and give them medial suggestions so that they can avoid the complex diseases in future and can prolong their life span.”
According to Dr Venu Peddi Reddy, senior manager at Ravi Children’s Hospital Spirometry is used to help diagnose breathing problems such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). “We have conducted these tests free of costs to the traffic police constables. It is very expensive, but we are providing them free of cost and giving them precautionary advices about their health. We will take up many more such social initiatives and extending a helping hand to the society,” said Dr Venu.
