Future sports stars prove their mettle: DYSO Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The District Youth and Sports Department conducted physical fitness tests as announced earlier on as many as 31 schoolchildren at the main stadium ground in Mahbubnagar on Monday. 

According to Mahbubnagar District Youth and Sports Officer (DYSO) Satya Vaani, as many as 31 students from Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar and Devarkadra mandals had come to the main stadium for taking part in the physical fitness tests.

The children studying in 4th standards from various schools participated in the district-level selection programme. Based on the merit in the physical fitness tests, the selected candidates will be further sent to Hyderabad to compete with other students and those who excel in the final tests will be selected for admission into the Sports School run by Sports Authority of Telangana State in Warangal.

“Today, we have conducted physical tests on 31 students. Of them, 19 are boys and 12 are girls. Tomorrow, we have scheduled to conduct a second selection drive of children from Makthal, Narayanpet and other mandals in the district. Based on the performance of the children, a final merit list will be prepared which will be sent to Hyderabad for final selections,” informed Satya Vaani. 

Interested candidates who wish to take part in the physical fitness tests must take along with them 10 passport size photos, Aadhaar card, bona fide certificates, birth certificates and cast and community certificates. Only those students who are studying in recognised schools by the District Education Department are eligible to take part in the selection drive, according to the DYSO.
