Farmers to wait for seven years for second time subsidy for micro irrigation scheme in Gadwal

Gadwal: Farmers, who have been benefited by subsidised micro irrigation scheme like sprinklers and drips have to wait for seven year, instead of five years, to secure assistance once more.

The Agriculture Department officials have communicated the late government order to the farmers. Earlier, many farmers in Jogulamba Gadwal district had availed themselves of the benefits of subsidised irrigation systems offered by the Horticulture and Sericulture Departments under the Micro Irrigation project promotion scheme.

Particularly the drip irrigation system is very much effective for the judicious use of water to various horticulture and commercial crops like fruit plantations, vegetables, mulberry plantations, and other crops like cotton, chilli etc in the areas where there is scanty rainfall and where availability of ground water is minimal.

“Sprinklers and drip irrigation facilities are provided to farmers on subsidy to promote and facilitate micro irrigation systems among farmers in Gadwal. During the past five years since 2014, many farmers availed themselves of the benefits and again they were reapplying for subsidy for the second time.

The state government had issued a GO MS No. 52 extending the gap to secure the benefits once against from five years earlier to seven years now,” said Somi Reddy, District Horticulture and Sericulture Officer, Jogulamba Gadwal.

In view of the above, the district official had informed to all the farmers who had availed themselves of the benefits of micro-irrigation facilities five years back not to apply for the benefits for two more years.
