Ration dealers in Jadcherla lambast Self-Help groups involvement in public distribution system

Mahbubnagar: Ration Dealers Association in Jadcherla mandal on Friday staged a protest in protest against the Revenue officials training women from Self-Help groups in public distribution system. 

The Association opposed the government’s move to entrust the responsibility of distribution of essential commodities to the poor to the Self-Help groups in view of the strike by the Fair Price Shop dealers. The Association members staged protest and disrupted the training programme for Self-Help Groups. 

The Fair Price Shop dealers decided to go on strike in support of their demands. As part of programme to ensure distribution of essential commodities to the poor, the administration has launched a programme to train the women from the Self-Help Groups in public distribution system. 

The dealers demanded that the government pay them salaries instead of commission. They also opposed the online system for distribution of commodities to the cardholders.
