Blood donation camp held in Khammam to help thalassemia patients

Khammam: It is a good sign to see the youth coming forward for good cause to help thalassemia patients by donating the blood, said Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal here on Wednesday.

As the part of the social responsibility, the Khammam Two Town Circle Inspector Raji Reddy along with Shaik Khaleel and Sharath Chandra team organised a mega blood donation camp to help thalassemia patients at Indian Medical Association Hall (IMA) here.

As many as 101 members of police officials donated the blood in response to the call given by the police department and showed humanity by donating blood to help thalassemia patients.

Speaking on the occasion, Tafseer Iqbal said thalassemia is a blood disorder which has affected millions of people causing thousands of death every year worldwide and blood donation was the easiest form of helping thalassemia patients.

Donating blood every three months was an excellent practice for maintaining good health. Donating blood is beneficial to the body as it would boost the body’s mechanism and the blood that has been donated is easily generated by the body, he added.

In recent times the awareness about the blood donation and thalassemia disease was increasing. One of the major issues that the people with thalassemia have to deal with is the timely blood transfusions. Blood donation is the easiest form of helping humanity and hardly takes any time, he added.

Khammam Two Town Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkatrao, Dr Rehana, Dr Rajesh Garge, Dr Kurapati Pradeep Kumar, Circle Inspectors Ramesh, Venkanna Babu, G Venkateshwar Rao, Sadeeq, Bhadru, Hussain, Asif, Faqruddin, Dinesh Raj, Anu, Qadeer, Azaad, Farzaad, Jameel, Sai and Uday were present along with others.
